Position Overview
The Director of Information Technology & Information Security is responsible for leading the firm’s technology strategy, infrastructure, and cybersecurity program. This role reports to the Head of Technology (CIO) and oversees a hybrid IT operating model that includes internal resources and third-party service providers.
The Director will ensure that technology systems are secure, scalable, and aligned with the firm’s business objectives, regulatory requirements, and growth strategy, including M&A activity. This individual acts as both a strategic advisor and hands-on leader, serving as the escalation point for all IT and security matters while driving key technology initiatives across the organization.
Primary Responsibilities:
Technology Leadership & Strategy
• Further define and execute the firm’s IT and cybersecurity strategy aligned with business and growth objectives
• Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on technology investments, risks, and opportunities
• Manage the annual IT budget, vendor strategy, and roadmap
• Evaluate and implement systems that improve operational efficiency, client experience, and scalability
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
• Own and continuously enhance the firm’s information security program
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory frameworks (e.g., SEC, FINRA, NIST, CMMC, cybersecurity guidance)
• Oversee risk assessments, vulnerability management, incident response, and business continuity planning
• Act as the primary escalation point for all security incidents and threats
• Manage relationships with external SOC and cybersecurity vendors
IT Operations & Vendor Management
• Oversee day-to-day IT operations across infrastructure, applications, and end-user support
• Manage and hold accountable outsourced providers (Help Desk, NOC, SOC, MSP/MSSP) through SLAs and KPIs
• Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of all systems
• Drive continuous improvement in service delivery and user experience
• Supervise internalSysAdminresource and augment capabilities as needed
Project Leadership & Execution
• Lead all IT-related projects, including system implementations, upgrades, and integrations
• Serve as the technology lead for M&A activity, including due diligence and post-acquisition integration
• Partner cross-functionally to prioritize and deliver technology initiatives on time and within budget
• Implement best practices in project governance, documentation, and change management
Governance, Compliance & Controls
• Establishand maintain IT policies, procedures, and controls
• Ensure proper data governance, privacy, and protection of client information
• Support audits, regulatory exams, and third-party assessments
• Maintaindocumentation and reporting for executive leadership and board-level visibility
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
• 8–12+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, preferably in wealth management, financial services, or regulated environments
• Proven experience leading both IT operations and cybersecurity functions
• Experience managing third-party IT vendors and outsourced service models
• Demonstrated success leading technology initiatives in growth-oriented or acquisitive environments
• Experience with M&A technology due diligence and integration strongly preferred
Technical Expertise
• Strong understanding of infrastructure, cloud environments (Azure), networking, and endpoint management
• Experience with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS, ISO 27001)
• Familiarity with financial services platforms (e.g., portfolio management systems, Dynamics CRM, custodial integrations)
• Knowledge of identity and access management, data protection, and incident response
Leadership & Soft Skills
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to operate both strategically and tactically
• Excellent vendor management and negotiation skills
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Highly organized with strong project management capabilities
• Hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves
