FED CIV IT at Leidos currently has an opening for a Mid

– Level Cyber Security Analyst to provide a full range of cyber security services on a long-term contract in Baltimore, MD. This position is full-time/permanent and will support a US Government civilian agency. The position is available immediately upon finding a qualified candidate with the appropriate background clearance.

You will be asked to perform hunting for malicious activity across the network and digital assets, respond to computer security incidents and conduct threat analysis, and identify and act on malicious or anomalous activity. Daily work includes conducting analysis using a variety of tools and data sets to identify indicators of malicious activity on the network, performing detailed investigation and response activities for potential security incidents, and providing accurate and priority-driven analysis on cyber activity/threats. The role also involves payload analysis of network packets and recommending implementation of countermeasures or mitigating controls.

Collaboration is part of the job: you will work with technical and threat intelligence analysts to provide indications and warnings and contribute to predictive analysis of malicious activity. Mentoring junior staff in cybersecurity techniques and processes, creating and continuously improving standard operating procedures used by the SOC, and resolving or coordinating the resolution of cyber security events are also expected.

You will monitor incoming event queues for potential security incidents, create, manage, and dispatch incident tickets, and monitor external event sources for security intelligence and actionable incidents. Maintaining incident logs with relevant activity and documenting investigation results so that relevant details are passed to the SOC Lead, Incident Management team and stakeholders is required. Participation in root cause analysis or lessons learned sessions will also be part of the work.

### Experience, skills, and technical requirements

We require: 4 years of Information Technology experience, with at least 2 years of experience in information security working within security operations. A working knowledge with US

– CERT Federal Incident Notification Guidelines is expected.

Technical tools and skills explicitly called out include working knowledge of Splunk Enterprise, Enterprise Security, and SOAR products; working knowledge of Crowd. Strike, Trend. Micro and Mc. Afee host-based solutions; and knowledge of log, network, and system forensic investigation techniques. Significant experience performing analysis of log files from a variety of sources (including individual host logs, network traffic logs, firewall logs, or intrusion prevention/detection logs) is required.

You should have experience conducting intelligence driven defense utilizing the MITRE ATT&CK framework and Cyber Kill Chain (CKC). A diverse knowledge base of operating systems, network protocols, system administration, and security technologies is necessary, as is knowledge of TCP/IP Networking and the OSI model. Experience creating actionable content for a diverse range of commercial security tools and/or SIEM technologies and significant experience monitoring threats via SIEM console are also required. Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills with the ability to de-construct problems, strong customer service skills and decision-making skills, and the ability to develop working knowledge of client infrastructure are listed as essential.

Certifications and education listed in the posting are: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience; Certified Information Systems Security Professional or Associate; and a formal IT Security/Network Certification such as SANS GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA), SANS GIAC Network Forensic Analyst (GNFA) or SANS GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH).

### Additional and preferred experience

Preferred qualifications include 3+ years’ experience in SOC/CIRT or 1-year specific experience as a Lead SOC Analyst; experience at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) or U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) or previous SOC/CIRT experience at a federal agency similar in size, scope, and complexity; EC Council Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH); experience with Elastic, Snowflake (or other Security Data Lake), and Akamai WAF; and significant experience with packet analysis (Wireshark) and malware analysis.

### Compensation, posting, and benefits

Pay Range $69,550.00 – $125,725.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
