About the Role

We are seeking a Remote Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for a strategic, part-time role focused on crafting, formalizing, and governing a comprehensive cybersecurity program across the organization. In this pivotal position, you will consolidate various cybersecurity initiatives into a unified framework, establish a robust cybersecurity strategy and roadmap, and ensure alignment with industry standards and applicable regulations.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Creating and operationalizing cybersecurity governance structures.
• Redesigning the Information Security Oversight Committee.
• Facilitating regular governance meetings.
• Translating cybersecurity risks into business impacts.
• Developing executive-level reporting.
• Mentoring the internal security leader.

Ideal candidates will possess extensive senior-level cybersecurity leadership experience, ideally as a CISO or vCISO, with a successful history of establishing enterprise-wide cybersecurity programs. Strong skills in governance, risk management, and executive communication are crucial. Experience in highly regulated environments or public sectors is advantageous, along with knowledge of IT/OT convergence, cloud environments, and relevant regulatory frameworks such as CJIS and PCI-DSS.

This role is non-operational and does not involve executing technical controls or leading incident responses. Instead, it is concentrated on strategic program development, enhancing risk visibility for executives, and mentoring internal cybersecurity leadership.
