Position: IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT/INFOSEC)
Summary This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service. It is a Senior level position within the CES occupational structure located in DISA J6/C4 ENTERPRISE DIRECTORATE (IT3113). The role supports the mission of US Cyber Command.
Responsibilities
• Serves as principal technical authority and lead specialist to ensure effective, economical, and advanced technical management of customer computing requirements for assigned systems and applications.
• Coordinates, executes, implements, and maintains the installation and operation of customer application systems, establishing and maintaining operation schedules.
• Installs and configures hardware, software, and peripheral equipment for system users in accordance with organizational standards.
• Conducts trend analyses to identify areas where additional customer training and assistance is needed and initiates appropriate action such as defining new training requirements.
• Ensures the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles and practices in the delivery of customer support services.
Conditions of Employment

• Position requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance (Top‑Secret with SCI). Loss of clearance may result in termination.
• Completion of Foundational Qualifications within 9 months and Residential Qualification within 12 months required.
• Drug testing required.
• Designated as Mission Essential; may require relocation or travel within CONUS up to 5% of time.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements
:
• Attention to Detail – experience reviewing own or others’ IT work or data to ensure accuracy and consistency with standards.
• Customer Service – experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing IT needs, and developing or identifying IT products and services that meet those needs.
• Oral Communication – briefing mid‑level management and IT staff on system status, projects, or daily operations, including non‑technical audiences.
• Problem Solving – identifying alternatives to address complex IT issues by gathering and applying information from multiple sources.
Qualifying Experience (At least one year of experience at or above the level necessary for immediate success):
• Experience developing and implementing IT policies, strategies, and information security practices to ensure enterprise system and data integrity; OR
• Experience applying expert‑level troubleshooting, problem isolation, and system recovery processes to resolve complex computing issues and leading rapid‑response recovery efforts; OR
• Experience advising senior management on emerging technologies to optimize infrastructure efficiency and operational performance.
Education
No substitution of education for qualifying experience at the GG‑13 level.
Additional Information
• Position is in the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service.
• Salary will be based on duty location and locality pay.
• Three‑year probationary period may apply for new appointments.
• Telework availability based on mission requirements.
