SKILLS REQUIRED
Primary (Must-Have):
✔️Hands-on expert-level experience with F5 Big-IP and WAF (ASM/AWAF)
✔️Proven track record in migrating applications from legacy Big-IP platforms to modern F5 solutions
✔️Minimum 5 years of experience deploying and maintaining enterprise WAF products (Akamai Kona, F5 ASM/AWAF, Salt API Protection)
✔️Deep knowledge of TCP/IP Layer 7 security fundamentals
✔️Proficiency in troubleshooting techniques: packet captures, CLI analysis, and network protocol debugging
Secondary (Good to Have):
✔️Scripting experience in Python or PowerShell for task automation
✔️Experience with Network Access Control (NAC) and traditional Firewalls
✔️Ability to analyze complex application logs and guide developers on secure coding practices
✔️Strong communication skills and ability to manage stakeholder expectations in a large-scale enterprise environment
✔️Experience supporting on-call incident resolution for mission-critical security infrastructure
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a dedicated Web Application Firewall (WAF) Engineer to join the Information Protection & Risk Management team. This role is critical to the lifecycle management of our security infrastructure, specifically focusing on the migration and sustainment of F5 Big-IP environments. You will work within the Cyber Security Technology group to deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot security controls, ensuring our enterprise applications remain protected against evolving threats while maintaining high availability.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
✔️Lead the migration of applications from legacy Big-IP environments to upgraded F5 architectures
✔️Perform day-to-day operations, monitoring, and expert-level troubleshooting for F5 and Akamai WAF deployments across the enterprise
✔️Execute architecture and engineering tasks to support both ongoing security operations and new project implementations
✔️Conduct regular system health checks and user activity audits to ensure compliance and optimal performance
✔️Document security application designs, operational procedures, and management workflows to ensure organizational consistency
