OVERVIEW:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity IT operations, threat management and incident response, enterprise network experience and a proven understanding of recognized compliance standards. The IT Security Operations Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the organization’s cybersecurity program. This role oversees threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, and security monitoring to ensure the protection of enterprise assets, data, and infrastructure. The manager collaborates with IT, compliance, and business units to maintain a strong security posture and respond effectively to emerging threats. The role with be actively working with NOVEC’s existing cybersecurity specialists.

• Security Operations Management.
Manage security analysts and incident responders.
Oversee real-time monitoring, threat detection, and incident response activities.
Develop and maintain playbooks, runbooks, and escalation procedures.
• Threat and Vulnerability Management.
Coordinate regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
Track and remediate security vulnerabilities across systems and applications.
Stay current with threat intelligence and emerging attack vectors.
• Incident Response and Forensics.
Lead investigations of security incidents and breaches.
Perform root cause analysis and develop post-incident reports.
Coordinate containment, eradication, and recovery efforts.
• Security Tools and Technologies.
Manage and optimize security technologies such as SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and DLP.
Evaluate and implement new tools to enhance security operations.
• Team Management.
Mentor a team of cyber analysts and support staff.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation.
• Project Management.
Lead cross-functional projects involving application upgrades, migrations, and new implementations.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Continuous Improvement.
Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in cyber tools, AI and automation technologies.
Identify opportunities for improving business processes.
Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for the organization’s cybersecurity.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or a related field is required.
• CISSP, CISM certifications preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity.
• Demonstrated experience managing technical teams and leading technical projects.
• Strong understanding of security operations, threat intelligence, and incident response.
• Experience with SIEM platforms EDR tools, and cloud security.
• Familiarity with frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, NIST CSF, and CIS Controls.
• Experience in the utility industry is preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to apply analytical methodology to problem-solving and decision-making and relate theoretical and technical concepts to practical application.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with all levels of staff, both orally and in writing, while maintaining professionalism under all circumstances.
• Sound problem-resolution, judgment, and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of contract administration and current IT technologies that apply to the company.
• Demonstrated ability to produce results in a data-intensive environment. Demonstrated ability to learn and understand information systems requirements to deliver results quickly.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain the integrity of sensitive material and confidential business data.
• Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills and abilities.
• Perform job responsibilities promptly and accurately within established guidelines under minimal supervision while providing superior customer service.
