Information Security Manager

June 17, 2026
$180000 - $220000 / year

Job Description

Company: Hampton North

Location: Reston, US

Manager, Security Tools and Engineering

This is a player-coach engineering leadership role sitting over a six-person team that owns and operates roughly 32 security tools across a mature enterprise environment. The right person is a principal-level security engineer who wants to step into management while staying close to the technical work, not a people manager with a security background. The team has real depth and runs mostly autonomously; this person sets direction, elevates the engineers, and drives the automation-first culture the organization is building toward.

Compensation: $180,000 – $220,000 base + 20% annual bonus + RSU grant of $40,000 – $55,000 at initial hire

Logistics: Reston, VA / Hybrid – on-site Tuesdays and Thursdays, core hours 10am-3pm

Here’s what you’ll be doing:
• Leading and mentoring a team of six senior security engineers, each owning a subset of the 32-tool security stack
• Driving automation strategy across the tooling ecosystem to reduce manual operational burden
• Owning lifecycle management and operational maturity for enterprise security platforms including SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanning, and network security tooling
• Partnering with security operations to ensure tool coverage supports detection and response workflows
• Building and maintaining metrics, KPIs, and maturity roadmaps for the security tooling program
• Getting hands-on where the work demands it, particularly on integration challenges, tuning, and automation builds
• Identifying and closing gaps in tooling coverage, particularly around network security

And what you need to have:
• 8+ years in security engineering with meaningful hands-on tool deployment and integration experience
• Prior experience leading or technically mentoring a security engineering team
• Splunk administration and integration experience, including use in a SIEM capacity
• Hands-on experience with EDR platforms (Tanium or CrowdStrike strongly preferred)
• Vulnerability scanning tool ownership and operational experience
• Python scripting and automation workflow development
• Network security engineering background
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• CISSP, CISM, CEH, or GPEN preferred but not required

No CTC or sponsorship at this time.
