Hiring: Security Configuration Management Engineer

Location: Manassas, VA

Work Schedule: Hybrid 3 Days Onsite Per Week

Duration: Long-Term Contract

Rate: Up to $50/hr on 1099

We are seeking an experienced Security Configuration Management Engineer to support

enterprise security hardening and compliance initiatives across operating systems, databases,

web servers, and network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Customize and maintain security hardening standards based on CIS Benchmarks, STIGs, and

industry best practices

Configure and validate compliance verification tools including Nessus and CIS-CAT

Perform security configuration reviews across Linux and Windows environments

Support hardening of databases, web servers, firewalls, routers, and other network devices

Evaluate security risks associated with configuration deviations and compliance gaps

Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and operations teams to improve system security

posture

Conduct compliance assessments and remediation activities

Required Qualifications

6 9 years of experience with security hardening and configuration management

Strong experience with CIS Benchmarks, STIGs, or similar security standards

Hands-on experience with Nessus compliance auditing and security validation

Experience administering Linux and Windows operating systems

Experience supporting databases, web servers, and network devices

Strong understanding of security compliance and risk assessment methodologies

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with CIS-CAT and Tenable Nessus audit customization

Security certifications preferred

Experience within highly regulated enterprise environments

Eligibility

U.S. Citizens and Green Card Holders only

Must be able to work onsite in Manassas, VA at least 3 days per week
