Cloud IT Risk Consultant (Cyber Security & Cloud Risk)

Duration: 6 months (extension possible)

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

Overview

This role supports cloud and IT risk assessment activities within an enterprise cybersecurity environment. The position focuses on evaluating cloud and application initiatives, assessing security controls, and providing risk guidance across infrastructure, cloud, and technology platforms.

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct IT risk assessments for cloud and non-cloud initiatives
• Develop and maintain risk scorecards and executive reporting materials
• Review architecture, vulnerability, and control assessment documentation
• Partner with application, cloud, and security teams to evaluate risk exposure
• Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders
• Support alignment with cybersecurity frameworks and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with SMEs to assess emerging technologies and cloud solutions

Must-Have Skills & Experience
• 7+ years of cybersecurity or IT risk experience
• Strong knowledge of cloud security and cybersecurity frameworks
• Experience with Azure and/or AWS cloud environments
• Understanding of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, containers, and cloud-native technologies
• Experience with application security concepts (SAST, DAST, CI/CD, IaC)
• Strong communication and executive presentation skills
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CCSK, or CRISC

Nice-to-Have
• Banking or financial services experience
• Knowledge of PCI, SOX, SOC2, or OSFI requirements
• Experience with AI technologies or cloud transformation initiatives
• Azure or AWS certifications

Soft Skills
• Strong stakeholder management and advisory skills
• Ability to communicate technical risk concepts to non-technical audiences
• Professional writing, facilitation, and public speaking abilities
