Description

The Leidos Cybersecurity, Architecture, and Engineering (CAE) organization, part of the Corporate Information Security Office and Digital Modernization sector, is seeking an innovative and experienced Senior AWS Cloud Security Engineer to join our team.

Location: This position can be performed remotely or from our offices in Gaithersburg, MD, Reston, VA, or Orlando, FL.

Citizenship: US Citizenship is required.

In this role, you will spearhead the design and implementation of AWS cloud security architectures across various digital environments including cloud, on-premises, and hybrid systems. Your contributions will ensure adherence to global security cloud architecture standards, regulatory requirements, and Leidos best practices, fostering innovation and creativity as you work with premier enterprise-grade security tools.

Primary Responsibilities
• Collaborate with Leidos corporate clients to understand their requirements and design environment controls that comply with security standards.
• Offer specialized knowledge on AWS, Azure AD, APIs, and security best practices.
• Ensure technical governance and compliance validation in Leidos environments.
• Evaluate existing system architectures and provide recommendations for enhancing cybersecurity controls.
• Troubleshoot technical security design issues in alignment with commercial enterprise solutions and business requirements.
• Conduct ongoing research on emerging security technologies and suggest necessary updates.
• Work alongside fellow Cybersecurity Architects and Engineers with diverse expertise (Networking, Endpoint, Application, Cloud, Mobile, etc.).
• Develop a set of reference architectures applicable across customer engagements.
• Keep these models current with regulatory standards (e.g., NIST 800-171, CMMC, Privacy, etc.).
• Lead the validation of designs, compliance checks, and the communication of architectures that align with regulatory requirements and Leidos standards.
• Engage in other cloud platforms and SaaS integration projects as required.
• Implement core and cloud infrastructure security strategies to minimize risks and exposure.
• Assist clients with data protection, IoT, and all-encompassing cloud capabilities.
• Conduct cybersecurity reconnaissance to illuminate potential attack surfaces.
• Manage threat and vulnerability assessments for federal clients and teams.
• Analyze network architectures and topologies to assess security vulnerabilities.
• Document implementations thoroughly through technical documentation and runbooks for clients.
• Provide input and insights on security architectures.
• Engage in client-facing interactions to convey architecture and implementation plans effectively.

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree with 8-12 years of experience in Information Technology, demonstrating a strong passion for Cybersecurity. Additional years of relevant experience, training, and/or professional certifications may substitute for a degree.
• US Citizenship.
• Able to obtain a Security Clearance (Note: individuals do not need to possess any clearance today).
• Proven experience in developing and deploying security solutions that meet customer requirements.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both engineers and clients on architectural vision and security models.
• Experience in implementing security architectures for cloud and hybrid systems.
• Strong understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS) offerings and capabilities.
• Ability to represent the Security Platform in the development and execution of the global cloud enterprise architecture.
• Experience in the assessment, development, implementation, optimization, and documentation of a wide range of security technologies.
• Experience in enterprise architecture and teamwork in implementing solutions.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as VPC Networking, IAM, KMS, CloudFormation, EC2, and others.
• Proficient in using tools like Stash, Git, and AWS security capabilities.
• Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, JSON, Ruby, C#, PowerShell, YAML).
• Experience with Agile practices like Scrum, Kanban, and CI/CD.
• Hands-on experience with deployment orchestration and security configuration management tools.
• Understanding of cloud-native authentication methods such as OAuth and OpenID.
• Experience with cloud security and governance tools.
• Familiarity with threat modeling and conducting design reviews.
• A self-starter capable of delivering at a senior engineering level.
• Knowledge of standard virtualized networking components.
• Ability to collaborate creatively with other architects from various domains.
• Knowledge of a wide range of security products and ability to analyze alternatives for new capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in driving technical organizational change based on strategic decisions.
• 5-8 years of experience with AWS.
• Experience in developing enterprise cloud security policies.
• AWS Certifications.
• Experience implementing multi-factor authentication for SaaS applications.
• Experience in architecting solutions within AWS.
• Background in designing and securing enterprise environments.
• Information security background, particularly in DoD or Intelligence Community roles, is a plus.
• Knowledge of DFARS and NIST 800-53.

Pay Range: Pay Range $107,900.00 – $195,050.00

The compensation offered will reflect the job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, and internal equity.
